Day 36 – a Song that is Happy and Sad
Happy and sad. Does that mean that the song inspires those conflicting emotions in the listener? Or does it mean that the chord progression is opposite the mood of the song?
I think either could be true but in this case I’m going to go with the former.
This song inspires conflicting emotions. It’s utterly depressing, and I don’t mean that in the trendy it’s-cool-to-hate-your-life fad of today. I mean it’s truly the most heart-wrenching thing to consider – imagine a God who is unable to sympathize with our weakness. How distant He would be to us! How unapproachable He would be.
However the ending inspires the hopefulness of a Lord who does understood what we go through, whose deity did not give Him special privileges and comfort during His time on earth.
